Build Movement From the Ground Up

Elements of Movement develops strength, mobility, coordination, and motor control through four foundational ground-based movement patterns: Bear, Monkey, Frogger, and Crab.

These locomotor patterns challenge the whole body to move through different positions, directions, and levels while coordinating hands, feet, trunk, and attention.

The class can support general fitness, recreational movement, and athletic development by building a broader base of movement skill and control.

The Four Elements

Bear

Ground-based locomotion that challenges whole-body coordination, strength, and trunk control.

Monkey

Side-to-side movement that develops weight transfer, coordination, and mobility.

Frogger

Low-position movement that explores hip mobility, control, and transitions.

Crab

A supported ground-based pattern that challenges posterior strength, coordination, and movement awareness.

Participation Considerations

Elements of Movement includes frequent ground-based positions and transitions to and from the floor.

Participants should be comfortable supporting some body weight through the hands and feet and moving between standing, crouching, and floor-level positions.

Movement options may be offered, but the class may not be appropriate for every injury, mobility limitation, or activity restriction. Contact Elevate before registering if you are unsure about class fit.

Drop In or Build Over Time

Drop-ins are welcome, so you can try the class without committing to a series.

Regular participation may help you become more familiar with the movement patterns and build greater control, coordination, and confidence over time.
