COMMUNITY CIRCLE
A place to connect with others who understand that cancer can affect far more than medical appointments and treatment plans.
COURAGE is a free community gathering for adults navigating cancer, treatment, recovery, survivorship, and life beyond diagnosis.
Meetings create space for conversation, reflection, practical education, shared experience, and connection with others who understand some of the uncertainty, change, and complexity that cancer can bring.

Cancer can affect daily routines, relationships, work, identity, physical wellbeing, plans for the future, and the way people see themselves.
COURAGE offers a welcoming place to be with others who may understand some of those experiences without requiring you to explain everything from the beginning.
You are welcome to participate actively, share when you want to, ask questions, or simply listen and be present.
COURAGE welcomes adults across different points in the cancer experience.
Find connection while adjusting to new information, decisions, and uncertainty.
Connect with others while navigating treatment, changing routines, and everyday life.
Explore the transition into survivorship, ongoing follow-up, and life after active treatment.
Find community while living with ongoing, recurrent, or long-term cancer.
COURAGE is designed as an open Community Circle.
You do not need to attend every meeting or begin at a particular point in the series.
Participants may join when a topic, meeting, or moment feels useful to them and return as often as they choose.
There is no expectation that everyone share. Listening and simply being present are also meaningful ways to participate.
Each meeting may be a little different, but COURAGE is built around connection, reflection, learning, and mutual support.
Spend time with others who have been affected by cancer and understand some of its challenges.
Explore experiences, changes, questions, and themes that may arise during and after cancer.
Some meetings may include education, guest speakers, resources, or a focused topic related to wellbeing and life with cancer.
Share encouragement, perspective, and community without pressure to solve another person's experience.
Meeting themes may change based on participant interests, community needs, and available resources.
Making space for uncertainty, changing plans, and the emotional and practical adjustments that can come with cancer.
Navigating conversations with family, friends, coworkers, care teams, and others in your life.
Exploring how diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, or ongoing illness may affect identity, priorities, and perspective.
Discussing practical ways to support physical, social, and emotional wellbeing through change.
Exploring transitions, follow-up, new routines, and the experience of moving forward after active treatment.
Learn about community, healthcare, wellness, and support resources that may be useful along the way.
The exact format may change, but meetings often include a combination of the following:
Arrive, settle in, review group expectations, and connect with the circle.
Explore a theme, educational topic, guest presentation, or facilitated group discussion.
Share resources, announcements, reflections, or next steps before concluding the meeting.
COURAGE is a community support and wellness gathering.
It creates space for connection, education, reflection, and shared experience, but it is not psychotherapy, behavioral health treatment, a medical appointment, or an individualized clinical service.
Participants experiencing significant emotional distress or needing individualized medical, behavioral health, or crisis support should connect with an appropriate healthcare professional or support service.
COURAGE is intended to be welcoming, respectful, and supportive.
Participants are encouraged to respect the privacy of others and not share personal stories or identifying information outside the group without permission.
Because COURAGE is a community group rather than a private clinical encounter, participants should only share what they are comfortable discussing in a group setting.
COURAGE is typically offered periodically throughout the year.
