The MS Group is an incredibly valuable space to connect with others who understand the challenges of living with MS. The environment is relaxed and welcoming, making it easy to share experiences, ask questions, and gain insight from both fellow participants and knowledgeable medical professionals. It's a supportive community that truly makes a difference.
Multiple sclerosis can affect people in very different ways.
Symptoms, energy, mobility, work, relationships, exercise, temperature tolerance, and daily routines may all change over time.
RISE offers a welcoming space to connect with others who understand some of that uncertainty and complexity.
The goal is not to compare experiences or find one right way to live with MS. It is to learn, connect, share, and support one another.
RISE welcomes adults living with multiple sclerosis as well as family members, friends, and support persons.
Connect with others while navigating symptoms, changes, questions, and everyday life with multiple sclerosis.
Learn, listen, and better understand the experience of someone you care about.
Find connection, shared perspective, and practical conversation with people who understand the MS journey.
RISE is designed as an open Community Circle.
You do not need to attend every meeting or begin at a particular point.
Participants may attend when a topic, conversation, or opportunity to connect feels useful and return as often as they choose.
There is no expectation that everyone share. Listening and simply being present are also welcome ways to participate.
Each meeting may look a little different, but RISE typically combines peer connection, general education, reflection, and conversation.
Spend time with people who understand some of the practical and emotional challenges of living with MS.
Explore general information about MS, wellbeing, movement, self-management, and community resources.
Exchange personal experiences, ideas, and perspectives when you choose.
Find encouragement and community without pressure to solve another person's experience.
Meeting themes may change based on participant interests, community needs, and available guest speakers or resources.
Discuss changing symptoms, energy, routines, and the uncertainty that can come with MS.
Explore general approaches to staying active, maintaining mobility, and adapting activity to changing needs.
Talk about the impact of fatigue and strategies for pacing, planning, and managing daily demands.
Create space to discuss stress, identity, uncertainty, relationships, and emotional wellbeing.
Learn general information about healthcare topics and questions that may be useful to discuss with your medical team.
Learn about community, healthcare, wellness, and support resources that may be helpful.
The exact format may vary, but meetings often include a combination of the following:
Arrive, settle in, review group expectations, and connect with the circle.
Explore a themed topic, general education, guest presentation, or facilitated group discussion.
Share resources, announcements, questions, or takeaways before concluding the meeting.
RISE meetings may be facilitated by members of the Mammoth Hospital or Elevate team or by other appropriately qualified healthcare or community professionals.
Guest speakers may also join selected meetings when their expertise fits the topic being explored.
Because facilitators and topics may vary, check the current meeting listing for specific details when available.
RISE is a community wellness and peer-support gathering.
It may include general education about multiple sclerosis, wellbeing, and self-management, but it is not a medical appointment, neurologic evaluation, rehabilitation service, or substitute for individualized medical care.
Questions about medications, treatment changes, new or worsening symptoms, or other individual medical decisions should be discussed with the appropriate healthcare professional.
RISE is intended to be welcoming, respectful, and supportive.
Participants are encouraged to respect the privacy of others and not share personal stories or identifying information outside the group without permission.
Because RISE is a community gathering rather than a private clinical encounter, share only what you are comfortable discussing in a group setting.
RISE is offered periodically throughout the year.
