Parkinson's Community Circle and PWR! Moves

Movement + Community

Living with Parkinson's can affect movement, balance, mobility, confidence, and daily routines. It can also create a need for connection, shared experience, and ongoing support.

The Parkinson's Community Circle creates space for both.

Participants can take part in guided movement and connect with others living with Parkinson's, care partners, and members of the local community.

Who Is This For?

This Community Circle is intended primarily for people living with Parkinson's disease and those who support them.

People With Parkinson's

Participate in guided movement and connect with others who share similar experiences.

Care Partners

Care partners and support persons are welcome to attend, participate, and connect.

Community Members

Others affected by Parkinson's disease or interested in supportive community may also be welcome depending on the session.

What Is PWR! Moves?

PWR! Moves is a Parkinson-specific movement approach designed around large, intentional, whole-body movement.

Exercises may focus on posture, weight shifting, rotation, transitions, balance, coordination, and movement used in everyday activities.

Activities can often be adapted for different mobility levels and may be completed in standing, seated, or supported positions depending on the session and participant needs.

What to Expect

Move

Practice Parkinson-specific movement, mobility, balance, coordination, and functional movement activities.

Connect

Spend time with other participants, care partners, and community members in a supportive social setting.

Adapt

Movement activities may be modified to support different levels of mobility, balance, and confidence.

More Than an Exercise Class

Movement is an important part of this Community Circle, but it is not the only reason to participate.

The group also provides an opportunity to connect, share experiences, learn from one another, and build community around Parkinson's disease.

The balance between movement, education, conversation, and social connection may vary from one meeting to another.

Guided by Qualified Healthcare Professionals

Movement portions of the Parkinson's Community Circle may be led by a physical therapist or another appropriately trained healthcare professional with Parkinson-specific movement experience.

When PWR! Moves is included, programming is guided by professionals with appropriate PWR! training and experience.

Community Wellness, Not Individual Treatment

The Parkinson's Community Circle is a group community wellness and support offering.

It is not an individual physical therapy evaluation, treatment session, or substitute for medical care.

Participants with new symptoms, recent falls, significant changes in mobility, recent surgery, or activity restrictions should follow the guidance of their healthcare provider before participating.
