Support Group FAQs

Who are these groups for?

Adults seeking peer support around a shared experience. Caregivers are welcome where noted.

Are these therapy groups?

No. These are peer-support groups facilitated by trained staff/peer leaders. They are not medical care or psychotherapy. For clinical needs, please book an appointment or contact your clinician.

What does it cost?

Free. Optional donations help sustain the program.

How often do groups meet and for how long?

See the calendar for dates. Most groups meet monthly or quarterly and run about 45-60 minutes.

Do I need to RSVP?

RSVP is encouraged so we can plan seating, but walk-ins are welcome if space allows.

What are the ground rules?

Confidentiality, listen without fixing, speak from your own experience, one person at a time, arrive sober and on time, no recording or photos.

Is sobriety required for harm reduction support?

No sobriety requirement to attend, but please do not attend under the influence. This group focuses on safety, practical strategies, and connection.

Can I bring my child/infant?

We ask that groups remain adults-only unless otherwise noted. This protects privacy and reduces triggers. No childcare is available on site.

Accessibility & Location

Most meetings are in-person at Elevate (121 College Pkwy, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546) in the upstairs study with accessible entry. Some groups may offer hybrid options. Please see the group listing for more details.

What should I bring?

Please bring clothing layers for comfort, water, and a notebook if you like. We provide materials when relevant.

What if I'm in crisis?

If you’re in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crises, call or text 988 (U.S.) for 24/7 support. Our groups are not emergency services.

Who facilitates the groups?

A trained facilitator (clinician or peer leader) who keeps time, upholds ground rules, and shares resources.
