Stay strong, balanced, powerful, and ready through the heart of the season.
Sharp Edge is an in-season sports performance and conditioning program for hockey players, skaters, and athletes who rely on repeated skating movement, lateral power, balance, and lower-body endurance.
The program supports physical performance between practices, games, races, and training days without turning every session into another maximal workout.

A long winter season can place repeated demands on the legs, hips, trunk, and cardiovascular system.
Sharp Edge is designed to complement your existing skating, practice, or competition schedule with focused off-ice strength, conditioning, movement, and recovery work.
The goal is not to replace sport practice or add unnecessary fatigue. It is to help athletes maintain physical capacity, address key training qualities, and recover more intentionally through the season.
Sharp Edge is designed for athletes actively participating in skating-based sports or activities during the winter season.
Support strength, conditioning, balance, and recovery around practices, games, and league play.
Develop physical qualities that support repeated skating, balance, power, and control.
Build strength, coordination, lateral power, balance, and endurance that carry over to skate skiing.
Sessions are built around physical qualities that support skating-based sport and activity.
Build strength through the hips, legs, and lower body to support repeated skating demands.
Practice producing and controlling force side to side through progressive off-ice training.
Challenge stability, single-leg control, coordination, and body position.
Develop work capacity for repeated efforts without simply adding more high-intensity volume.
Build trunk strength and control for force transfer, balance, and whole-body movement.
Maintain useful hip, ankle, and trunk mobility through the season.
Use lower-intensity movement, mobility, and recovery strategies to support the time between demanding sport sessions.
In-season training has a different purpose than preseason conditioning.
The goal is not to continuously increase training volume. Instead, Sharp Edge uses focused sessions to support strength, movement quality, physical capacity, and recovery while athletes are already practicing and competing.
Training may shift from week to week based on the demands of the season and the focus of the series.
Begin with mobility, activation, balance, and movement preparation appropriate to the day's training.
Work on strength, power, control, conditioning, or other skating-relevant physical qualities.
Finish with mobility, lower-intensity movement, or recovery strategies when appropriate to the session.
Sharp Edge focuses on off-ice physical preparation.
The program does not teach skating stride, stick handling, shooting, edge technique, Nordic ski technique, or other sport-specific technical skills.
Instead, sessions develop the strength, balance, power, mobility, conditioning, and recovery capacity that support participation in skating-based sports.
Technical coaching should come from an appropriately qualified sport coach or instructor.
Hockey, ice skating, and Nordic skate skiing are not the same sport, but they share several important physical qualities.
Repeated side-to-side force production is a common feature of skating-based movement.
Balance, stability, and coordinated single-leg movement matter across skating disciplines.
Athletes need the capacity to repeat demanding movements across practices, games, races, or long sessions.
Sharp Edge may be led by a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, or Athletic Trainer, depending on staff availability.
Instruction focuses on sports performance, physical conditioning, movement quality, appropriate progression, and recovery within a group setting.
Sharp Edge is designed for participants who are actively training, practicing, or competing and are able to participate in group conditioning.
It is not an injury evaluation, physical therapy treatment, or rehabilitation program.
If you have a current injury, recent surgery, significant pain, or activity restrictions, follow the guidance of your healthcare provider before participating.
If you are transitioning back to sport after rehabilitation, an Elevate Return to Sport program may be a better fit.
