COURAGE Cancer Group

Circle Of Understanding, Resilience, Acceptance, Growth & Empowerment

  • COURAGE Cancer Group is a supportive space for anyone navigating life during or after cancer. This group brings people together to share experiences, learn practical coping skills, and connect with others who understand the challenges of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

  • COURAGE Cancer Group welcomes individuals diagnosed with any type of cancer, as well as friends and family who want to support their loved ones on this journey. Participants may be at any stage of their journey - newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, monitoring, or recover(ing/ed) without sign of disease.

  • COURAGE Cancer Group is an open group and regular participation is not required. Participants may join at any time and "drop in" as needed.

This group is intended to foster an empathic and supportive environment to aid in your journey. Individuals may participate as much as they are comfortable or just be present if that suits them.

Each session includes a brief check-in, a guided discussion or mind-body skill, and time for open conversation.

Participants explore themes like managing uncertainty, communicating with loved ones, rebuilding strength, and finding meaning and identity through change. The goal isn’t to fix anyone’s experience, but to offer a compassionate circle where people can learn, reflect, and support one another.

Whether you are newly diagnosed, in active treatment, or adjusting to life beyond it, COURAGE offers a place to be seen, heard, and empowered as you move forward with resilience.

    Group sessions typically include:

    • Welcome & introductions (5 minutes)

    • Group guidelines & grounding (5-10 minutes)

    • Education/guest speaker/themed topic (15-20 minutes)

    • Group discussion & sharing (20-30 minutes)

    • Resource sharing & announcements (5 minutes)

    • Closing ritual & wrap-up

  • COURAGE Cancer Group is offered monthly, typically on the 1st Tuesday of the month from 12:00PM-1:00PM.

  • COURAGE Cancer Group is held in our Mammoth location (121 College Pkwy, Mammoth Lakes, CA) in the 2nd floor study of the South Gateway Apartments.

The group facilitator may greet you in the lobby and escort you upstairs or you can follow signage to the upstairs study.
