Diabetes Support Group

  • Diabetes Support Group is designed to reduce feelings of isolation and to empower participants with knowledge. This group offers a supportive space to share experiences, learn from others, and foster encouragement and hope through lending each other emotional and social support.

Group is led by Mammoth Hospital Pediatric Clinic registered nurse Tassi Kenney whose passion for diabetes education and support stems from her own experience living with type 1 diabetes.

Discussions will include the impacts of diabetes, lifestyle management techniques, treatment options, and self-care topics such as mental, emotional, and social health.

  • Diabetes Support Group welcomes individuals living with diabetes (type 1, type 2, prediabetes) as well as friends and family supporting them.

  • Diabetes Support Group is a monthly open group and regular participation is not required. Participants may join at any time and "drop in" as needed.

This group is intended to foster an empathic and supportive environment to aid in your journey. Individuals may participate as much as they are comfortable or just be present if that suits them.

    Group sessions typically include:

    • Welcome & introductions (5 minutes)

    • Group guidelines & grounding (5-10 minutes)

    • Education/guest speaker/themed topic (15-20 minutes)

    • Group discussion & sharing (20-30 minutes)

    • Resource sharing & announcements (5 minutes)

    • Closing ritual & wrap-up

  • Diabetes Support Group is offered monthly, typically on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 12:00PM-1:00PM.

  • Diabetes Support Group is held in our Mammoth location (121 College Pkwy, Mammoth Lakes, CA) in the 2nd floor study of the South Gateway Apartments.

The group facilitator may greet you in the lobby and escort you upstairs or you can follow signage to the upstairs study.
